How It Works

You come with a grant in mind. Before the program begins, you’ll identify a specific grant opportunity your organization is actively pursuing. Every session, every assignment, and every piece of feedback is oriented around that real application.
We cover the key sections together. Each week focuses on a critical component of the grant:
Week 1
Read the funder, ready your org
Decode the funder’s priorities and assess your organization’s grant-readiness so every choice you make is strategic.
Week 2
Story, need, and messaging
Craft the organizational narrative, statement of need, and funder-facing messaging that makes your application unmistakable.
Week 3
Program design and budget
Build the program design, goals, outcomes, and project budget that funders trust — clear, credible, and aligned.
Week 4
Evaluation, sustainability, summary
Complete the evaluation plan, sustainability statement, and executive summary, then pull the full application together.
You write between sessions. Each session ends with a focused assignment. You’re not doing busywork — you’re completing actual sections of your application.
You get feedback where it counts. The program concludes with an optional office hours session where you can bring your compiled draft, ask questions, and work through any sections that need another look.
You leave with more than one grant. As you write, you’re building the core messaging, frameworks, and systems that carry forward to every application that comes next — eliminating the hours of chaos that come with starting from scratch at every deadline. Alexandra N. Cohen
Alexandra helps nonprofits strengthen fundraising, diversify revenue, and build the operational infrastructure needed for sustainable growth. She works with Executive Directors, development teams, and boards to clarify strategy, streamline systems, and create practical plans that advance mission and impact — translating complex challenges into clear, actionable steps.
Her work spans the full fundraising spectrum, with deep expertise in grants strategy, grant writing, and donor engagement — helping organizations build the relationships and systems that turn one-time funding into long-term support.
Before launching ANC Consult, Alexandra spent 15 years as a litigation attorney, bringing the same expertise in strategy, communication, and problem-solving to her work with mission-driven organizations. She holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University (BA, International Studies), Hofstra University School of Law (JD), and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MBA / MA International Policy & Development).
